Guía de uso

User guide

Everything you need for your first coffee with a drawing. If you prefer it on paper, download the guide as a PDF (in Spanish).

Before you start

  • Finely ground cinnamon and a teaspoon.
  • The plain card, without a design, for loading the cinnamon: it comes in the box.
  • A card with a design.
  • A cappuccino cup: the camera has been tested with cups 80 to 90 mm across.
  • A sheet of paper for your first test.

It is fully mechanical: no batteries, no cables and no app.

Load the cinnamon

  1. Turn the camera over and remove the sieve, holding it by the rim.
  2. Add 3 or 4 teaspoons of finely ground cinnamon and spread it evenly in the chamber.
  3. Keep the groove where the sieve sits clean. Careful: if cinnamon is left in it, the sieve won't sit flat and extra cinnamon will escape when you shoot. Remove it with a dry brush, or empty the chamber and load it again.
  4. Fit the sieve by pressing only around the rim, never on the mesh, until it sits all the way round.
  5. Before turning it back over, slide the plain card into the slot: this stops cinnamon escaping through it.
  6. Turn it over and move it gently from side to side to spread the cinnamon. Do this before first use and every time you load it. Careful: if the cinnamon is unevenly spread, the button may not return and the drawing comes out patchy.

First shot

Try it on paper first: swap the plain card for one with a design, rest the camera on a sheet of paper and press the button slowly and steadily, all the way down.

On your coffee

  1. Fill the cup with dense foam up to the rim, without it touching the camera.
  2. Slide the card into the slot.
  3. Rest the camera on the cup: the tabs on each side of the sieve help you centre it.
  4. Press the golden button slowly and lift the camera: the drawing is on the foam.

For a sharp drawing

  • Milk at 55–65 °C (130–150 °F) and dense foam, without big bubbles.
  • Finely ground cinnamon: it flows well, doesn't clump and passes evenly through the mesh.
  • Pure cocoa, ground coffee and grated chocolate draw worse: their oils and lumps build up inside.
  • Press slowly and steadily, all the way down.

If something goes wrong

  • The button doesn't return or gets stuck: the cinnamon is unevenly spread; move the camera gently from side to side.
  • The drawing is patchy or incomplete: there's too little cinnamon or it's unevenly spread; move it from side to side and, if needed, reload 3 or 4 teaspoons.
  • Extra cinnamon falls around the drawing: there's cinnamon in the sieve groove; empty it, clean the groove and fit the sieve by the rim.
  • Cinnamon escapes through the card slot when you turn it over: slide in the plain card before turning it.
  • The drawing is very faint: use finely ground, dry cinnamon; if it doesn't improve, write to us.

Every time you remove the sieve, empty the camera upside down over a sheet of paper and shake it gently until no cinnamon is left in the space where the sieve sits; then load it again.

Care

  • Don't wet or soak it, and don't put any part in the dishwasher.
  • On the outside, a barely damp cloth.
  • The chamber and the sieve, with a clean, dry pastry brush.
  • Keep the cards flat and away from heat.
